A master plan was developed and the commission has completed Phase I (35 miles of water line, 1 tank and 1 booster station) and Phase 2 (105 miles of water line, 3 tanks and 3 booster stations). Phase 3 has been substantially designed and is currently in the easement acquisition stage.

This firm designed the current wastewater treatment process known as the SBR (Sequencing Batch Reactor), which was constructed in 1997. Springfield is the first and currently only municipality in the state of Kentucky using this treatment process.
